Loyalty levels measure how much you stake, not how well you play

Most casino loyalty schemes follow one rule: points for volume. Each amount wagered earns points, points move you up through levels, and higher levels unlock perks such as better cashback rates, faster handling of requests or personal contact. Whether Zodiac runs such a programme, how its levels are named and what they give is decided by the operator and published in its terms. This page explains the mechanics common to these schemes and the trap built into them.
How points are earned
Points are tied to stakes, not to results. Spin a slot for 1,000 units of total stakes and you earn the same points whether you finished ahead or behind. That makes speed of play the main driver: a fast slot with quick spins or autoplay generates far more stakes per hour than a live blackjack table where each round takes a minute. Many schemes balance this with game-specific rates, giving fewer points for low-edge games — the same idea as wagering contribution. The loyalty terms list these rates.
| Factor | Effect on points | Effect on your balance |
|---|---|---|
| Higher stake per round | more points per round | larger swings, faster losses on average |
| Faster game pace | more points per hour | more house edge paid per hour |
| Low-edge table games | often fewer points | lower average cost per unit staked |
| Bonus play | may or may not earn points | check the loyalty terms |
The trap: chasing the next level
A hypothetical example in neutral units: a level requires 20,000 units of stakes. On a slot returning about 96 per cent, wagering that amount costs about 800 units on average. If the perks of the new level are worth less than that to you, reaching it is a loss you planned in advance. Levels are designed to reward players who would have staked that much anyway; they rarely justify extra play on their own. Progress bars and countdowns make the next step look close — that is their purpose, and a good reason to look at the cost first.
What to read in loyalty terms
- Points per amount wagered for each game type, and whether bonus funds earn points.
- What each level unlocks and whether perks are guaranteed or discretionary.
- How levels are reviewed and whether they can drop after a quiet period.
- How points convert into rewards and whether those rewards carry wagering.
Better cashback and more frequent reloads are typical loyalty perks; both are explained on their own pages. For the games themselves, the game catalogue and the slot guide explain pace and volatility. If you notice that the level, not the game, decides how long you play, set limits as described on the responsible gambling page.
