The first-deposit match and the games you clear it on
Updated: October 2026 · Rastislav Bednár
A welcome offer is usually a match on the first deposit: you pay in a sum, the operator adds bonus funds, and both sit under a wagering requirement until they turn into withdrawable cash. What Zodiac offers today, at what rate and under which conditions, is decided by the operator and may differ from one month to the next. This page does not repeat those figures; it explains how to read them and how the games you choose decide whether the offer works for you.
The four numbers that matter
| Term | What it means | Why the game matters |
|---|---|---|
| Wagering multiple | how many times a base must be staked | every unit staked carries the game's house edge |
| Wagering base | bonus only, or deposit plus bonus | a combined base can double the stakes you need |
| Maximum bet | largest stake allowed with bonus funds | limits how you play volatile slots |
| Deadline | days available to finish wagering | slow, low-stake play may not finish in time |
Read the four together, never one at a time. A generous match with a short deadline and a low maximum bet can be harder to finish than a modest match with relaxed conditions.
Volatility and the bonus balance
Volatility describes how a game spreads its payouts. A low-volatility slot returns small wins often, so the balance drifts slowly and you usually get a long way into the requirement. A high-volatility slot keeps most of its value in rare features — a bonus round, a big multiplier — and long runs without a meaningful win are normal. With a bonus balance that is a real problem: the balance can hit zero before the feature ever arrives, and the offer ends with nothing. If you like volatile games, consider whether you want an offer at all, or plan smaller stakes so that the balance survives more spins.
A hypothetical example
Say a deposit of 100 units is matched with 100 units of bonus funds, and the terms ask for wagering of 30 times the bonus. That is 3,000 units of stakes. On a slot whose info panel shows a return of 96 per cent, the average cost is about 3,000 × 0.04 = 120 units — more than the bonus itself. If the base were deposit plus bonus, the stakes would be 6,000 units and the average cost about 240. These numbers are invented to show the method; replace them with the real terms before deciding.
Before you click accept
- Check whether the games you actually enjoy count towards wagering — see how wagering works.
- Look for bonus-buy and feature-purchase exclusions in the general terms.
- Compare the maximum bet with your usual stake on slots.
- Set a deposit limit first; the offer should never decide your budget.
Some players skip the welcome offer entirely and play with plain cash, which keeps withdrawals free of conditions. That is a legitimate choice, especially for fans of live tables, which often count little or nothing towards wagering.
